Yes, when administered under medical supervision in a controlled setting, ketamine therapy is safe and has been effectively used for treating various mental health conditions, such as treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and intractable chronic pain conditions with minimal and manageable side effects.
At MindPain Relief Institute, board-certified emergency medicine physician, Dr. Akash Mehta, administers the ketamine infusions and monitors the patient at all times.

A good candidate for ketamine treatment is someone with treatment-resistant depression (TRD), certain other psychiatric conditions (e.g. generalized anxiety disorder, PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder, social anxiety disorder) or chronic pain, who has not responded to traditional medications.
We accept referrals from providers who have patients who suffer from mental health & chronic pain conditions, and need another option after trying at least two treatments/medications.
-
We do not advise patients to drive or operate heavy machinery following a ketamine treatment for 12 hours or the next day, whichever is later. Also, we recommend against using any alcohol or marijuana for 24 hours before or after the treatment.
-
The number of treatments required varies depending on the individual and their specific condition. This will be discussed with your physician on the initial screening and evaluation consultation.
